Boutique Cannabis Cultivator
(1.5 years using Cure Puck)
- 12 Cure Pucks in operation (Gen 1)
- 3-week cure in 120L barrels
- 2 to 2.5 hours of daily labor eliminated
- Premium market, 10/10 flower
The Problem
Before Cure Puck, ZaZa Exotics cured flower in hundreds of turkey bags with cheap hygrometers tied inside — a process CEO Ken Polchan calls “a guessing game.”
Each bag cured differently. The smell wouldn’t always come out. And it took roughly 2 hours just to open, burp and retie all the bags. The inconsistency meant some batches cured better than others, with no reliable way to know what was working.
The Solution
Cure Puck replaced the turkey bags and cheap sensors with accurate data and monitoring inside 120L barrels. Ken now knows exactly what conditions are working for each cure.
The system removed the daily labor of manually burping hundreds of bags and gave the team confidence in a consistent 3-week cure process.
The Results
- Turkey bags with cheap hygrometers eliminated replaced by accurate monitoring in 120L barrels.
- The daily burp round eliminated roughly 2 to 2.5 hours a day one person used to spend opening bags, untying knots and burping.
- Better customer feedback on a stronger aroma.
- Better consistency between batches a repeatable 3-week cure instead of bag-by-bag variance.
- Less costly mistakes accurate data de-risks losing a whole batch.
- Premium market differentiation 10/10 flower.
Before Cure Puck vs. After Cure Puck
| Metric | Before | With Cure Puck |

| Cure vessel | Hundreds of turkey bags | 120L barrels |
| Monitoring | Cheap hygrometers tied inside each bag | Accurate data and monitoring inside each barrel |
| Daily labor | About 2 to 2.5 hours a day opening, burping and retying bags | Eliminated |
| Process control | A guessing game — no reliable way to know what was working | Exact conditions known for each cure |
| Batch consistency | Each bag cured differently, some batches better than others | Consistent 3-week cure process |
| Aroma | Smell wouldn’t always come out | Much louder nose after about two weeks; better customer feedback |
| Risk | Costly mistakes could lose a whole batch | De-risked by accurate per-barrel data |

Glossary
- Cure Puck
- App-connected curing device from Twister Technologies that monitors humidity in real time inside a cure container and runs the burp schedule automatically.
- Burping
- Opening a cure container to exchange gas and release moisture. Done manually in bags it means opening, untying, venting and retying every container on a set schedule.
- Turkey bag
- A large oven bag commonly used as a low-cost cure vessel. ZaZa Exotics cured in hundreds of them, each with a cheap hygrometer tied inside.
- Hygrometer
- A humidity gauge. The cheap units ZaZa Exotics tied inside its bags gave readings that were not accurate or consistent enough to manage a cure by.
- Nose
- Grower shorthand for the aroma of finished flower. ZaZa Exotics reported a much louder nose after about two weeks of curing with Cure Pucks.
- 120L barrel
- The cure vessel ZaZa Exotics moved to from turkey bags, monitored by a Cure Puck across a 3-week cure.
- Gen 1
- The first-generation Cure Puck hardware. ZaZa Exotics runs 12 Gen 1 units.
